The New York University men's tennis team lost to the Stevens Institute of Technology 7-2 on Wednesday, April 15, in Hoboken, NJ.
The Violets got off to a slow start, dropping all three doubles matches.
"Stevens outplayed us in the doubles matches," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy. "They deserved to be up 3-0."
In singles play, senior
CJ Leong (#2) and freshman
Ian Combemale (#3) picked up victories, but Stevens held on to win their seventh consecutive match. The Ducks improved to 12-5, while the Violets dropped to 3-5.
"Once you're down 3-0, it puts a lot of pressure on the team," added Choy. "We fought hard in singles, but we weren't able to overcome that deficit."
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:- Freshman
Samuel Khoshbin played well at #4 singles, narrowly losing to Stevens' Charles Drake 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.
The Violets return to the court on Friday, April 17, to take on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
