The New York University men's tennis team defeated Hobart College 6-3 on Sunday, March 29, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY, to earn their first dual victory of the spring season.
A day after losing all three doubles matches against the University of Rochester, NYU finished doubles play on Sunday with a 2-1 lead over the Statesmen. Junior

Ian Combemale won #1 doubles 8-2, and senior
CJ Leong and sophomore
Matt DeMichiel followed that with a 8-4 victory at #2.
The Violets came out strong in singles play, as well, winning their first four matches to earn the victory and improve to 1-3. Hobart now falls to 8-3 on the season.
"It's good to get our first win," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:- Thangirala also earned a straight-set victory in #1 singles. The junior won all four singles sets he played over this weekend.
- Leong bounced back from a close three-set loss on Saturday to defeat Hobart's Mike Fields 6-2, 6-4 at #2 singles.

Samuel Khoshbin picked up singles wins, as well.
The Violets return to the court on Wednesday, April 1, for a road tilt against The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
"We have to get right back at it on Wednesday against TCNJ," added Choy.
