NYU 2 USMMA 1 (OT)The New York Univeristy men's soccer team defeated the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in a 2-1 overtime contest at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, on Tuesday night, September 23.
Petter Aasa scored the game-winning goal, his first of the season, in the 100th minute on a penalty kick, with a shot to the left post.
Nicolas Notaro was fouled in the box by a Mariner to force the free kick.
NYU (7-1-0) opened the scoring in the first half when
Tommy Walters netted his first-career goal in the 41st minute. Walters received a crossing pass from Aasa to beat the USMMA (5-3-1) backline for the 1-0 lead. The Mariners tied up the contest in the 80th minute on Gavin Yingling's goal from a crossing pass in front.
