The New York University men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon, September 20, at GoValiants.com Field in Purchase, NY.

The Violets (6-1) suffered their first loss of the season, as the Valiants (3-4) were able to sneak one past NYU keeper Lucas Doucette in the 61st minute. The goal, a header in traffic, came off a well-placed cross from a corner kick.

"We definitely could have played better today," NYU Head Coach Joe Behan said. "You never like to let a goal in on a corner like that. It was extremely frustrating for all of us. We have to bounce back well from this. We've certainly learned a lot about the areas where we need improvement."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Doucette finished the contest with two saves.

- Co-captain Mickey Ingerman finished with a game-high four shots, with two one landing on net.

- Ryley Llorente also landed a shot on goal, attempting three overall.

- Zane Van De Put attempted two shots, with one stopped by the Valiant keeper.

NYU will return to the pitch when it hosts the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, on Tuesday night, September 23. Live stats and live video will both be available.
