Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten

Violets Go to 6-0 With Win Over Hunter

The New York University men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the 2014 season with a 2-0 shutout over Hunter College on Wednesday, September 17, on Randall's Island, NY.

The Violets (6-0) scored right before halftime and then again late in the contest en route to keeping Hunter (0-7) winless for the season.

Mickey Ingerman scored NYU's first goal on a free kick with 43:31 gone in the game. Zane Van De Put scored his first-career goal at the 80:32 mark to secure the win.

"Mickey showed great leadership and initiative with a well struck free kick," said Head Coach Joe Behan. "In the second half, Zane Van De Put's goal secured the win."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- NYU keeper Lucas Doucette had to make only one save in recording his fourth win and second shuitout of the season.   

- Bryan Walsh attempted six shots for the Violets, three of which landed on goal.

- Overall, NYU outshot the Hawks 15-2.

- Hunter's keeper Emmanuel Aprilakis made six saves.

"We still have a lot to do," Behan added. "But, we battled tonight and came out with a good victory."

NYU returns to action this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm when they face Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.
