NYU 1 Brooklyn 0The New York University men's soccer team won its second straight contest on Saturday night, August 30, defeating Brooklyn College 1-0 at home at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY. The Violets improved to 2-0 on the season.
It was a scoreless contest throughout, although the Violets controlled most of the opportunities. NYU finished the game with 22 shots, with nine landing on goal, while the Bulldogs had two on goal out of five shots.
With the clock winding down in the second half, the Violets finally broke through in the 87th minute when freshman forward
Nicolas Notaro headed one past the Brooklyn keeper off a long cross from another rookie, defender
Zane Van De Put.
"It was a great delivery by Zane and just an excellent header by Nicolas," NYU Head Coach
Joe Behan said. "Just one of those good plays in the box where you're able to capitalize."
HIGHLIGHTS:- Sophomore goalkeeper
Lucas Doucette made two saves in the contest, recording his first victory and shutout of the season.
"It was great to be able to get that shutout in the first home game at Gaelic this season," Behan said.

Hector Rojas led all players with five shots and tied a game high with two on goal. Sophomore forward
Reece Barton took three shots, also landing two on net.
- Bulldogs goalkeeper Ilya Keygen stopped eight-of-nine shots on the night.
