VIolets Record Now 4-1

Wu is 5-0 in singles this season.

The New York University men's tennis team fell to University Athletic Association (UAA) rival University of Rochester 6-3 on Saturday, April 5, in Rochester, NY.

NYU came into the match ranked #23 in the nation and #5 in the Northeast Region according to the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. At the start of the match, Rochester was unranked in the nation and #16 in the Northeast.

The Violets dropped to 4-1 on the season while the Yellowjackets improved to 11-4.

Steven Wu, ranked #2 in the Northeast, won his fifth singles match in a row and his third doubles match of the season. Wu is 5-0 in singles and 3-2 in doubles.

In his first competition playing in the fourth singles spot, Matt DeMichiel won the only other singles match for the Violets.

Wu and DeMichiel combined for all three of NYU's points through their singles wins and a combined effort for the lone Violets' doubles victory.

"Rochester came ready to play," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "They got on top early and we had some matchup issues that we could not overcome."
