The New York University women's tennis team travels to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship this weekend, which is being held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL, from Friday, April 25, through Sunday, April 27.
The Violets (1-6) are seeded eighth in the tournament and will face top-seeded Emory University (20-2) in the first round. The Eagles are ranked #2 in the nation.
Sophomore
Alison Wang will look to lead NYU at the #1-spot in singles. Wang is 7-1 on the season, but will face her toughest competition of the year in Gabby Clark, the Atlantic South Region's #1-ranked player. On Thursday, April 24, Wang was honored as Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro
Player of the Week for the third straight week.
Junior
Mari Tzakis is 5-2 in singles from the #2-spot this season. She will look to add to her four-match winning-streak and earn a point for the Violets.
Also competing at the UAA Championship will be five other nationally ranked teams -- #8 Carnegie Mellon University, #9 Washington University-St. Louis, #12 University of Chicago, #22 Brandeis University, and #23 Case Western Reserve University.
First serve is set for 9:00 am on Friday against the Eagles.
