ResultsThe New York University women's fencing team was defeated 16-11 by Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday, November 6, at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets won epee 6-3 and sabre 5-4, while falling 9-0 in foil.
"Actually very pleased with the result," said NYU Head Coach Steve Mormando. "We took them in sabre and we took them in epee, so we took two out of the three squads. We lost the overall women's meet because of foil. But, three of my foilists are overseas right now and coming back in January, while Audra Fox is recovering from injury."HIGHLIGHTS- Freshman
Marissa Posner led the way, winning all three of her epee matches.
- Freshman
Stephanie Cunningham followed in epee with a 2-1 record.
- In sabre, both junior
Ciki Chen and sophomore
Cydney Williams finished with 2-0 records.
The Violets will return to action on Sunday, December 7, for the Tradition Tournament hosted by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. NYU will face Penn State University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Vassar College, Temple University, and the host Pioneers.
