Rutgers 1 NYU 0

New York University's men's soccer team was defeated by Rutgers University-Camden 1-0 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) semifinals on Saturday, November 15, in Camden, NJ.

Rutgers scored its lone goal early in the first half and held on the rest of the way. The Scarlet Raptors (15-8-1) outshot the Violets 17-6 in the game.

"It took us a while to get going," said NYU Head Coach Joe Behan. "However, towards the end of the game we battled hard and created a few chances."

NYU sophomore keeper Lucas Doucette recorded four saves and managed to keep the Violets within striking distance throughout.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Malcolm Montilus attempted two shots for the Violets, landing one on net.

- Reece Barton and Petter Aasa also recorded a shot on goal for NYU.

"Our team never stopped trying and continued to work hard throughout the season," behan added. "It is a young squad, but we learned a lot and I'm proud that we had a winning season."

NYU's 2014 campaign ended with a 11-7-1 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA).
