Men's Soccer Earns Postseason Bid

Violet Will Host William Paterson in ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship

The Violets head to the postseason for the sixth time under Head Coach Joe Behan.

The New York University men's soccer team has earned a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro/Upstate Championship and will host William Paterson University in an opening-round game on Wednesday, November 12, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

"The opportunity to play in the ECAC Tournament is something the team really wanted," said NYU Head Coach Joe Behan. "Players get a chance to improve their game a lot sooner than expected."

The Violets ended the regular season with an overall 11-6 record and were slated as the #4 seed in the eight-team tournament. William Paterson (9-8-2) is the #5 seed.

The two teams last met on September 5, 2012, with the Violets edging the Pioneers 2-1.

The winner of Wednesday night's match-up will move on to the tournament semifinals on Saturday.

Rutgers-University Camden (13-8-1) is the top seeded team in the tournament.

The rest of the tournament field includes #2 Drew University (9-5-6), #3 Richard Stockton College (11-5-5), #6 Centenary College (12-7-1), #7 Alfred University (9-7-3), and #8 The Sage Colleges (9-7-1).
