HIGHLIGHTS:
- A 16-4 advantage in the shots column helped propel Stevens to victory, with 10 of those shots coming on goal.
- The Ducks' defense was stifling as well, as NYU only attempted one shot until the game's 79th minute.
- The Violets, however, were able to stay within striking distance for the entire first half, allowing only a 27th-minute goal by Stepen Dunbar before. The Ducks would get off to a fast start in the second half, however, as Matteo Sturia delivered a goal in the 48th minute followed by a 51st-minute score by Carson Pryor. The Stevens lead would swell to 4-0 on Kevin Calloway's goal in the 67th minute.
- The only two NYU shots on target, including the lone Violet goal, came courtesy of
Justin Suter in the 79th minute. It was the first career goal for the junior, who collected the rebound off of his own shot before ultimately putting it past the Stevens goalkeeper.
-
Forrest Sexton played 74 minutes in the net, allowing all four Stevens goals but also notching five saves. Lucas Doucette entered for the final 16 minutes and recorded a save without allowing a goal.
The Violets will look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, September 18, when they return home to Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, to face Hunter College. Kick-off is set for 7:30 PM.
