The New York University men's soccer team defeated NYU-Poly 5-1 on Sunday, September 1, at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the win, the Violets improved to 2-0 on the year.
NYU controlled the action, as they outshot the Blue Jays 21-7 and Violet keepers faced just three shots on goal for the game.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- After scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals in Saturday's game against Baruch, Reece Barton picked up where he left off, heading in the first Violet goal off a
Chris Ramirez cross in the game's third minute. It was Barton's third on the season, and he added his fourth in the 48
th minute.
- Ramirez added a goal of his own, his first of the season, at the 16:33 mark.

Colm Dillane also tallied his first goal of the campaign off an assist from
Mac Yumoto in the 28
th minute.
- Bryan Walsh scored the final goal of the day for NYU, the first of his career, in the 85
th minute.
- Three Violet goalkeepers:
Forrest Sexton (45:00), Lucas Doucette (25:00) and Niko Cantor (20:00), combined to face just three shots on goal, with the line Poly goal coming in the 80
th minute from Andrea Tontuti.
"I'm really pleased with how we played today," said Head Coach
Joe Behan. "We dominated possession and we were able to take advantage of our scoring opportunities."
The Violets will be back on the field on Friday, September 6, when they take on Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY. Kick-off is set for 11:00 AM.
