The New York University men's tennis team was edged 5-4 by the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 3, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
Playing their first match in over a month, the Violets split the three singles matches but were nipped 2-1 in doubles.
Aaron Meltzer was the only double-winner for NYU, capturing his #3 singles match 6-4, 6-1. He also paired with
Harveer Bhalla at #1 doubles for an 8-5 victory.
HIGHLIGHTS:

James Dean won the #5 singles match, defeating his opponent 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

Sidd Thangirala won at #6 singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
- The Violets led 4-3, but
CJ Leong (#4) and Bhalla (#2) each dropped three-set matches as Stevens rallied for the win.
- NYU is now 1-3 in dual matches this season.
- The Violets' previous match was on March 2 against Skidmore College
"Stevens is a very good team and I expected a very tight match," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "And that's exactly the way it went. We hung tough and have no reason to hang our heads. It could have gone either way at the end."
The Violets return to action on Saturday, April 6, when they host University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent University of Rochester on Family Day at 11:00am at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond in the Bronx.
