The New York University men's tennis team will head to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship this weekend, which is being held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL, from Friday, April 26, through Sunday, April 28.
NYU (7-4) enters the competition with five wins in its last six matches, including a current two-match winning streak.
Despite their strong play of late, the Violets find themselves as the #7 seed in the eight-team tournament. NYU begins play by taking on #2-seeded Case Western Reserve University (19-5) at 9:00am on Thursday. The Spartans are ranked #13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's Division III national rankings.
The Violets find themselves in the
ITA Northeast Regional Rankings at #14.
Harveer Bhalla and
Aaron Meltzer are also regionally ranked in doubles, earning the #9 spot in the ITA's latest release.
Steven Wu and
CJ Leong have also been a threat in doubles for the Violets as they lead the team with a 9-2 record.
NYU has been led in individual play by Meltzer at #3 singles and
Sidd Thangirala at #5 singles. Thangirala leads the team in winning percentage with an 11-1 (.916) record, while Meltzer is tied for the team lead in wins at 11-4 overall.
"Competition at UAA's is very tough, but we will go in knowing that we're capable of beating any team in the tournament," said Head Coach

Also competing at the UAA Championship will be top-seeded Emory University, #3 Washington University, #4 Carnegie Mellon University, #5 University of Chicago, #6 Brandeis University, and #8 University of Rochester.
