Match Results

The New York University women's tennis team opened its 2013 spring schedule with a tough 5-4 loss to Haverford College on Saturday, February 23, in Haverford, PA.

In a tight match throughout, the teams were tied 4-4 with only #5 singles left to be determined. In a three-set match, freshman Jazmin Colling won the first set, but couldn't sustain the momentum and fell 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 as Haverford escaped with the victory.

Alison Wang was the Violets' only double-winner. The freshman won her #2 singles match and her #1 doubles match.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Ashley Masanto teamed with Wang to help record the #1 doubles victory.

- Also winning singles matches for NYU were sophomore Alexandra Ziarko at #4 and senior Becky Kumar at #6.

"We fought to the end and never gave up," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "This is a very young team that showed a lot of character taking a good team down to the final set. This experience will be a great help in the long run." 

The team returns to action on Sunday, February 24, for a 10:30am match at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA.
