Men's Soccer Drops UAA Opener 3-0 at Rochester

Violets Fall to 25th-Ranked Yellowjackets

The New York University men's soccer team dropped its University Athletic Association (UAA) opener, 3-0, at the University of Rochester on Saturday, October 5, in Rochester, NY.

The Violets (6-3-1, 0-1 UAA) fell to a 25th-ranked Yellowjacket (8-1-1, 1-0) squad in the evening road match. The scoring began with 20 minutes remaining in the first, but NYU would hold Rochester scoreless for the rest of the half. Rochester would put a second goal on the board just under 10 minutes into the second, and cap off the scoring for the game with a goal off a corner kick with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- NYU was only outshot by two, 12-10, during the game. Each team landed six shots on goal.

- Violets' junior keeper Forrest Sexton played the full 90 minutes in net, making three saves.

- Freshman forward Bryan Walsh led the Violets with four shots.

NYU will be back on the field when it returns home to Gaelic Park in RIverdale, NY, on Tuesday, October 8, for an evening matchup against New Jersey City University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
