Violets to Conclude Season in Seventh-Place Match Tonight

Moore took her singles match to three sets.
Brandeis University defeated the NYU women's tennis team 9-0 on the second day of competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Championship in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The eighth-seeded Violets will return to the court tonight to face #7 Case Western Reserve University in the seventh-place match.

On Saturday, Brandeis stormed to an early 3-0 lead, sweeping the morning's doubles slate. Megan Moore and Ramya Pokala lost 8-2 at #1, Haley Mears and Alexandra Ziarko were defeated 8-3 at #2, and NYU gave a walkover in the #3 slot due to lack of players.

Heading into singles competition, Brandeis only needed two victories to advance past NYU. At first singles, Pokala lost 6-1, 6-0. Ziarko lost at #2 by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (2) to give Brandies the victory. At #3 and #4, Moore and Mears both fought hard before falling in three sets.
