In Friday's seventh-place match at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in Altamonte Spring, Fl, NYU cruised to an 8-1 victory over the University of Rochester to conclude its 2011-12 season.
 
The Violets took an early lead, sweeping the doubles slate against the Yellowjackets. Connor Witty teamed with Steven Wu for a 8-3 victory at #1, Ting Yee Lai and William Smithline won 8-4 at #2, and in the third slot, CJ Leong and Bowen Xu won 8-4.
 
James Dean gave NYU a 4-0 lead with his 4-6, 6-4, 10-3, #4 singles triumph. Leong then clinched the match for NYU with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in third singles play.
 
Witty and Wu added wins for the Violets with scores of 6-2, retired and 6-4, 6-2 at first and third singles, respectively. Smithline also posted a win at #6 with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 come from behind victory.
 
"There was some great play this weekend," said NYU head coach Horace Choy. "We were a little disappointed with our finish at UAA's, but all things considered it was a good season."
