The New York University women's tennis team could not earn its first win of the season on Saturday, April 21, falling 4-3 to Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY.
The dual was played in a best-of-seven format rather than the best-of-nine regularly played. This was because, due to injuries, the Violets did not have enough players to compete, and played their three singles players twice each while contesting only one of the doubles.
With the loss, the Violets dropped to 0-10 on the season.
The match was highlighted by wins in #1 doubles, with
Ramya Pokala and
Haley Mears pulling out a nailbiter by the score of 9-8(3).
In singles, Pokala took her second singles match of the day 8-1 at #4.
Megan Moore was also able to win her second singles match, earning an 8-3 victory at #5.
NYU returns to the court on Friday, April 27, to compete in the UAA Championship in Orlando, FL.
