Women's Tennis Suffer Defeat at William Smith College

Violets Fall 9-0

Head Coach Horace Choy's Violets are now 0-6 this season.
The New York University women's tennis team was defeated by William Smith College 9-0 on Sunday, April 1, in Geneva, NY.
 
The Violets fall to 0-6 for the season.
 
In doubles action, Violet Ramya Pokala teamed with Megan Moore in an 8-2 loss in the first slot. At #2 doubles, the team of Hanna Blau and Alexandra Ziarko lost 8-5, while NYU forfeited the third doubles.
 
In singles, William Smith was just as dominant. Blau lost 6-2, 6-2 at #1, Pokala fell 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 at #2, and Moore lost 6-0, 6-1 at #3. In the fourth singles match, Ziarko lost 6-2, 6-1, while at #5 Haley Mears fell 6-0, 6-0. NYU lost the sixth sinlges match by forfeit.
 
“We've been plagued by injuries,” said NYU head Coach Horace Choy. “I think we are competing well. However, we have just been unlucky with the health of our players.”
 
NYU will continue to search for its first win of the season when the squad plays at home against Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 4.
