Box Score

The New York University men's soccer team lost 1-0 to rival Brandeis University, ranked #11 in Division III by D3soccer.com, in its regular season finale on Saturday, November 3, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

The Judges (16-2-1, 4-2-1) scored the winning goal in the 68th minute on a header. The Violets (10-7-1, 2-4-1) possessed the ball most of the first half, owning a 6-1 advantage in shots, but Brandeis roared back in the second half to earn the win.

Prior to the game, NYU honored its six graduating seniors: Niki Chow, Adam Foda, Kyle Green, Ryan Horch, Paolo Luciano, and Jonas Poster.

Highlights

- The Violets had several outstanding chances in the early going, including a Green blast aimed for upper 90 that was stopped by a diving Blake Minchoff in the 13th minute.

- Just minutes later, Luciano threaded a through ball to Chow in behind the defense, but Minchoff charged and slid to block Chow's attempt.

- NYU's best opportunity of the second half came with the game still scoreless. In the 58th minute, Anthony Baini played a ball into the box that Nimo Freitag Bergstroem brought down near the 6. The sophomore's shot sailed high, however.

- The Judges broke through in the 68th minute. Lee Russo sent in a corner that bounced and found Sam Ocel, who headed it in past Poster.

- Shots ended up even at 12-12 for the game. Poster and Minchoff each totaled three saves in goal.

With the regular season complete, the Violets will await to hear their postseason fate on Monday.
