Kyle Green's goal with 3:08 to play lifted the New York University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the College of Staten Island on Saturday, November 10, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
With the win, the fourth-seeded Violets advance to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Championship final. They will play #2 seed Richard Stockton College in the final on Sunday at 7:00 pm at Gaelic Park. The Ospreys defeated #3 seed New Jersey City University 5-1 in the other semifinal on Saturday.
Highlights
- Green netted the game winner on a tremendous play.
Billy Cordova played a through ball to the senior, who outraced the defense toward goal. Goalkeeper Ahmed El-Gahreib saved Green's initial shot, but he won the rebound, turned and fired into the open net.
- Cordova added an insurance goal with 15.8 seconds to play. He made a long run from midfield, beat a defender in the box and buried a shot to the far right post.

Forrest Sexton made his first start of the season in goal and totaled six saves to earn the shutout. He was forced to make a pair of huge saves just 2:30 into the game, punching a hard shot off the crossbar and then blocking the ensuing rebound.
- After being held to just two shots in the first half, the Violets took seven in the second. For the game, the Dolphins (11-11-1) held a 16-9 edge in shots.
- With his goal, Green moved into third place all-time at NYU in career points (75).

Joe Behan. “His goal showed his determination to win the game. Overall, it was a good team performance – we played much better in the second half.”
