New York University's women's swimming & diving team pulled together an impressive second day of competition at the Rochester Invitational. The Violets defeated Brandeis University (264-82) and Case Western Reserve University (198-169), but fell to host University of Rochester (195-173) and Carnegie Mellon University (217-146). The meet took place in Rochester, NY, on Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27.

The Violets posted a number of excellent finishes on Saturday. Perhaps one of the most impressive came from freshman diver Nealey Wallis, who added to her flawless record at NYU by winning the one-meter dive with a score of 244.70.

"It was a great performance for NYU diving against our fellow UAA divers," said Diving Coach Scott Donie.

Highlights

- Savanna Keator triumphed in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:08.81.

- Caitie Hawthorne (5:18.70) and Gabby Borutecene (5:22.17) finished first and second, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle race.

- Keator and Emily Doerner finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle race with times of 54.55 and 54.90.

- Doerner, Keator and Sam Hill finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, with times of 25.57, 25.69, and 25.91 in the 50-yard freestyle. 

The Violets return home to the Palladium Athletic Facility to face Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, November 9.
