The Violets will have to wait at least three more weeks to pick up their first win of the season, following a 9-0 loss to Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday.
NYU (0-3) struggled early against MIT, dropping all three of the morning's doubles matches. The Violets, however, were able to deter the Engineers in singles competition.
Senior
Elizabeth Stachtiaris dropped her #1 singles match 6-1, 6-4 while freshman
Ramya Pokala nearly pulled off the upset at fifth singles, falling 7-6 (2), 6-4.
In other singles action, sophomore
Ariel Sultan lost 6-4, 6-2 in the #3 slot. Senior
Lisa Mijovic lost 6-3, 6-4 at fourth singles.
"They were a good team while we were a little off track with our gameplay," said Violet head coach
Horace Choy. "Now we can just look ahead to our next match."
Following NYU's academic spring break, the squad returns to action on March 25th at The College of New Jersey.
