The New York University men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 road match to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday, March 4.
The Violets (0-3) fell into a quick 3-0 hole following doubles competition. Despite two singles victories behind
Steven Wu and
Daniel Penaranda,
Horace Choy's squad could not close the gap. Wu won his #1 singles match with ease, cruising 6-1, 6-2 over Ken Van Tillburg of MIT. Penaranda provided NYU's second victory, a 6-4, 6-2 score in the second singles slot.
"It's hard to come back from that kind of score," said Choy. "I was happy with the level of play today with Steven coming out strong and Daniel following well."
In other action, senior co-captain
Matt Gross fell 6-4, 6-4 in his #5 singles match. The other co-captain for NYU, senior
Alex Stoler, lost 6-4, 7-6 at sixth singles.
Showing signs of progress, the Violets will look to bounce back with their first win of the seacson at Drew University on March 24th.
