Returning to the court for the first time since March 4, the New York University men's tennis squad is slated to compete in three dual matches this weekend. The Violets travel to Drew University on Thursday and The College of New Jersey on Friday before hosting Hobart College on Sunday.
Over the course of the next four days, NYU (0-3) not only has a chance to pick up its first victory of the 2010-11 campaign, but can also bring a .500 winning percentage to an anticipated match against the United States Coast Guard Academy on March 30.
The Violets are led by senior co-captains
Matt Gross and
Alex Stoler. Sophomore
Daniel Penaranda has also energized NYU, accumulating a 2-0 singles record thus far in 2011.
Sophomore
Raphael Namias leads the team in singles victories, posting a 5-2 record.
Thursday's match against Drew (3-2) is set to begin at 4:30 pm. Less than 24 hours later, the Violets return to the "Garden State" to face the #9 team in the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Poll, TCNJ (3-0), at 1:00 pm.
Horace Choy and his men's squad will then host Hobart (3-4) on Sunday. That match will be played at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond, kicking off at 11:00 am.
