Coming off a season-opening defeat, the New York University women's tennis team is looking for its first win when the Violets host powerhouse Skidmore College at the Mill Pond Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY, on Saturday, February 26.

One week ago, head coach Horace Choy and his Violets were more competitive than a 6-3 loss to Swarthmore College would suggest. Seniors Liz Feldman and Lisa Mijovic compiled victories in their respective singles matches. Feldman prevailed 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the #2 slot while Mijovic notched a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (3) win at #4 singles.

NYU could not overcome an early 2-1 deficit, coming out on the short end of two other singles matches. Senior Elizabeth Stachtiaris won the first set of her #1 match before falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. At third singles, sophomore Ariel Sultan lost 6-2, 7-6 (4).

The Violets hope to pick up their first win of the season against one of the top teams in the country. Skidmore (3-0) travels to New York as the 19th-ranked squad in the latest ITA Women's National Poll, and the seventh-best team in the ITA Northeast Regional Poll.
