Violets Travel to Swarthmore to Open 2011 Campaign

Women's Tennis Team Looks to Overcome Recent Struggles Against the Garnet

Sara Joo looks to pick up her first singles victory of 2011 at Swarthmore.
For the past three seasons, the New York University-Swarthmore College annual tennis rivalry has been decided by one match each time. In their 2011 spring opener on Saturday, the Violets look to put the series back in their favor following two consecutive 5-4 setbacks to the Garnet.

With zero graduation losses from the 2009-10 campaign, NYU head coach Horace Choy and his squad have their hopes set high for this season. Senior co-captains Sara Joo and Lisa Mijovic will lead an experienced group against a Swarthmore squad coming off a 12-5 '09-10 season.

Fellow senior Liz Feldman has been one of the top Violets this season, tallying six victories across singles and doubles events. Elizabeth Stachtiaris, also a senior, has posted a total of seven victories.

Sophomore Ariel Sultan has led the Violets in 2010-11 in both singles (four) and doubles victories (five).

Saturday's match is set to begin at 10:00 am. Results will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
