On Sunday, April 11, the New York University men's tennis team, competing in its second match in as many days, posted a 6-3 road victory at Hobart College in Geneva, NY.
The Violets (3-6) were coming off a 7-2 lost to a regionally-ranked opponent in the University of Rochester on Saturday, but managed to bounce back against Hobart.
On Sunday, NYU got off to a fast start, posting a 2-1 lead through three doubles matches. Junior Matt Gross teamed with fellow junior Alex Stoler to win 9-8 (8-6) at #1 doubles while the duo of junior Jason Sacher and senior #P.J. Marranca# prevailed 9-8 (9-7) at #2 doubles.
Marranca and Gross later notched victories at #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Stoler won 6-4, 6-4 at #4 singles.
Senior captain Eugene Tsarevskiy added a 7-5, 6-4 win at #4 singles.
"Coming off a tough loss against Rochester, I am pleased with our effort," said NYU head Horace Choy. "We knew Hobart would be good and I think we responded well."
The Violets return to action on Wednesday, April 14, when the team hosts Stevens Institute of Technology at the U.S. Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
