On Saturday, April 10, the New York University women's tennis lost to host University of Rochester 9-0, dropping the Violets' record to 3-6 on the season.
NYU freshman Alexa Wimes provided the biggest resistance to Rochester, who is ranked #13 in the lastest ITA Tennis Northeast Regional Poll. In #1 singles play, Wimes was highly competitive in a 6-4 loss in the first set. However, she eventually fell 6-0 in the second set.
Wimes teamed with fellow freshman Ariel Sultan to drop an 8-2 decision at #1 doubles.
"We were a bit shorthanded today," said NYU head coach Horace Choy. "We had some people out due to injury, so we only had five players total. That meant we couldn't field teams for all six singles matches and three doubles matches."
The Violets return to action tomorrow at 10:00 am to face William Smith College in Geneva, NY. That is the squad's last match of the season before the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on April 16.
Results of tomorrow's action will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
