On Saturday, April 10, the New York University tennis team lost for the first time in last last three matches, falling 7-2 to the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.
Despite facing a Rochester squad that is ranked #15 in the latest ITA Tennis Northeast Regional poll, two Violets were able to pick up victories on Saturday.
At #5 singles, senior #P.J. Marranca# won 6-3, 5-7, 10-2 in a three-set thriller. Junior Matt Gross added a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #6 singles.
Junior Jason Sacher forced his opponent into extra games in the first set at #1 singles, but eventually fell 7-5, 6-1.
The Violets dropped to 2-6 on the season.
NYU returns to action tomorrow at 10:00 am when the team travels to play Hobart College of Geneva, NY. Results will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
