In its second match of the spring season, the New York University women's tennis team fell to Skidmore College 7-0 Saturday afternoon in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Because of court time constraints with the following men's match, the two teams did not finish the #5 and #6 singles matches. They played three doubles followed by four singles, completing seven of the usual nine contests.
The Thoroughbreds controlled matters from the beginning with three wins in doubles. The Violets' #3 duo of freshman Elizabeth Stachtiaris and sophomore Sara Joo put up a good fight against Allie Burns and Stephanie Abrams in the final doubles match with an 8-5 score.
In singles, Stachtiarus at #1 won the first set of her match versus Danika Robison 7-5 before dropping the next two 6-3 and 10-8.
With the loss, the Violets fall to 1-4 on the season.
After a week-long break from competition, the Violet women return to the courts on March 7 at 10:00 am to face the Salisbury University Sea Gulls in Salisbury, MD.
