The New York University men's tennis team dropped its first match of 2009, falling to Swarthmore College 7-2 on Saturday in Swarthmore, PA.
The Violets won two of the six singles matches, but were unable to record a victory in any of the three doubles tilts.
The winners for NYU were Craig Berger at #1 and Jason Sacher at #3, each capturing three-set affairs.
"The match was definitely closer than the score would indicate. The finals core was not indicitive of how well we played," said NYU head coach Horace Choy. "We were right in it until the end."
The Violets return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28, when they face The College of New Jersey. That match will be played in Latham, NY.
