Wrestlers Win Third Straight

Defeat Division I Franklin & Marshall on Saturday

Gleason recorded NYU's lone victory by fall on Saturday.

The NYU wrestling team won its third straight match with a 30-16 victory over Franklin & Marshall University on Saturday at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Aided by three forfeit wins, NYU's victory on Saturday followed victories over Hunter College (20-18) on Friday and Yeshiva University (42-9) on Nov. 22.

NYU, now 5-3 this season, built a seemingly comfortable 21-6 lead. However, the Diplomats (0-2) pulled to within 21-13 after winning the next two bouts.

With the lead slipping away, Sabino Galassi's 7-3 decision over Matt Latessa in the 184-pound bout gave the home team an insurmountable advantage.

Gabriel Gleason (149 pounds) recorded the only fall for NYU, putting away Franklin & Marshall's Eric Norgard in 2:26.

“The guys who wrestled for us today really came out aggressive,” said NYU assistant coach Corey Luce. “Franklin & Marshall is a Division I team. We needed a better performance today and we go it.”

NYU returns to action when the team competes in the Brute/Adidas Sunshine Open in Bunnell, FL, Dec. 28-29.
