The New York University men's soccer team will begin its University Athletic Association (UAA) schedule in earnest this Saturday evening when it travel to upstate New York to face the University of Rochester at 5 p.m.
NYU (4-5) will look to build off Monday's 1-0 victory over Hunter College that saw Cameron Javadi tally his first collegiate goal and Matt Stieve earn his first collegiate shutout. The Violets have recorded clean sheets in all four of its victories, including three by 2008 Honorable Mention All-UAA performer Marek Urbanski (3-4, 1.47 GAA, 3 SHO). Kyle Green (2-2-6) and Badr Bevaart (2-0-4) are the team's top two scorers.
Selected as the UAA preseason favorite after capturing the 2008 Association crown, Rochester (6-0-2) is the lone undefeated team left in the league and is ranked in both the D3Soccer.com (#11) and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas (#14) polls. Michael Peacock ranks second among UAA goalkeepers in goals against average (0.62), while J.J. Dennstedt (4-3-11) and Scott Cady (4-1-9) have led the way offensively.
