A superb performance between the posts by Marek Urbanski helped the New York University men's soccer team secure a 0-0 draw with University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Emory University after 110 minutes of action Friday evening in Atlanta.
Although the Violets (4-6-2, 0-1-2 UAA) were outshot by a 13-4 margin, Urbanski stopped a season-high eight shots to preserve his fourth clean sheet this season. Four of his stops came in the first half, while the senior standout made two saves in both the second half and the first overtime.
NYU made a couple of late pushes in the second extra session. Brian Testa had a shot stopped by Emory's Trenton Spindler in the 104th minutes, then Ryan Horch took two corner kicks in the final 1:09, but the Violets settled for their second-straight tie. Spindler finisahed with two saves for the Eagles (8-3-1, 0-2-1 UAA).
NYU concludes its UAA road trip Sunday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. in Pittsburgh against a Carnegie Mellon University side ranked ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III National Poll and #12 in the D3Soccer.com Top 25.
