Men's Soccer Blanks CCNY, Increases Shutout Streak

Junior Marek Urbanski recorded his third straight clean sheet, extending the New York University men's soccer team's shutout streak to 479:09 with a 3-0 victory over The City College of New York on Monday night on Randall's Island in Manhattan.

Urbanski made three saves to improve to 2-2-2, as the Violets (3-2-2) extended their undefeated streak to five contests, going 3-0-2 over that stretch.

NYU took a 2-0 halftime lead by converting a pair of set pieces.  Senior co-captain Branden Neal tapped home junior Brandon Hintz' free kick in the 17th minute for his team-high fifth goal, while senior Adam Dhanens deposited a free kick off the foot of sophomore Samir Ibrahim in the 37th minute.

Sophomore Zachary Perris capped the scoring with an unassisted tally, his first of the season, in the 81st minute.

Overall, NYU outshot CCNY  (3-4-0) by a 20-6 margin, and took six corner kicks to the Beavers' two.

Taiwo Alabi made seven saves for CCNY.

NYU returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 24, when it hosts the Stevens Institute of Technology, ranked #15 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III poll.  Game time is 7 p.m. at Manhattan College's Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
