Violets Extend Streaks by Blanking Richard Stockton

Adam Dhanens netted his first goal of the season.
Box Score

Seniors Adam Dhanens and Robert Keller each hit the back of the net, while the goalkeeping of junior Marek Urbanski helped New York University record its third straight shutout in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Richard Stockton College at Lubetkin Field on the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Urbanski made four saves to preserve his second clean sheet, as the Violets (2-2-2) extended their shutout streak to 389:09 while stretching their undefeated streak to four games (2-0-2).

Dhanens got NYU on the board 17:09 into the contest, capitalizing upon a mistake made by the Richard Stockton (3-2-1) defense.  The senior collected a ball near the goal mouth and tapped it home to give the Violets a 1-0 lead.

NYU upped its advantage to 2-0 at 47:08 after senior Branden Neal initiated the scoring sequence.  After his shot was cleared off the goal line by an Osprey defender, Keller banged home the rebound for his second tally of the season.

Stockton's best chance came at 76:50, when senior Ray Nelson got taken down in the box by a Violet defender.  However, his penalty-kick attempt sailed over the crossbar.

Overall, NYU owned the edge on shots (14-10) and corner kicks (6-2).

Freshman Lou Herring, making his first collegiate start, made six saves for the Ospreys.

NYU returns to action Monday, Sept. 24, when it travels to the City College of New York for a 7 p.m. contest.
