Junior Marek Urbanski earned his first collegiate shutout as the New York University men's soccer team recorded a 0-0 tie against Manhattanville College in the 16th Annual Manhattanville Valiant Classic on Saturday at GoValiants.com Field in Purchase, NY.

Both teams finished 1-0-1, but no championship trophy was awarded in the Classic's pre-arranged format.

In a game that was played mostly in the midfield, with each team managing just a handful of decent scoring chances, the Violets (1-2-2) extended their undefeated streak to three matches (1-0-2).

Urbanski did his part between the pipes by stopping two shots, one in each half of regulation, as senior co-captain Devin Freeman-Roche, junior Christopher Wolf and sophomore Nick Coulson led a defensive effort that enabled NYU to secure its second straight shutout.

Jerry Tellier made five saves for Manhattanville (3-1-1).

NYU owned a 12-8 edge on shots and a 6-0 edge on corner kicks.  Seniors Adam Dhanens and Branden Neal each got off three shots to lead the Violets.

NYU returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 16, when it hosts Richard Stockton College at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Lubetkin Field.  Game time is 6 p.m.
