Brandon Neal's goal in the 68th minute helped NYU notch a tie Wednesday night.
Box Score

Branden Neal
provided the equalizer in the 69th minute, enabling New York University to salvage a 1-1 tie against intracity rival Baruch College on Wednesday night at the Metropolitan Oval.

Although the Violets (0-2-1) got the better of play against the Bearcats (0-0-2), it took until the 68:52 mark for them to break through.  That opportunity came off a well-struck corner kick by Brandon Hintz, on which Neal rose above the defense and headed into the top corner to forge a 1-1 deadlock.

Overall, NYU owned a 30-7 edge on shots and a 8-2 advantage on corner kicks, but could not capitalize on three strong opportunities in the final 30 minutes of action.  The Violets' best chance after Neal's goal came when Robert Keller hit the crossbar in the 82nd minute.

Baruch got on the board at 20:52 when Aykan Yurdacan banged home the rebound of Ibek Abdrahmanov's shot.

Marek Urbanski put aside four shots for the Violets, while Nelson DiBastiano made nine saves for Baruch.

NYU returns to action Friday, Sept. 12, when it opposes the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Manhattanville College Valiant Cup.  Game time is 5 p.m.
