Seniors Robert Keller and Devin Freeman-Roche each found the back of the net, leading New York University to a 2-0 victory over Hunter College in non-conference men's soccer action Tuesday night at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, NY.

Playing their final non-conference game, the Violets (5-4-3), ranked fourth in the Metropolitan Region, snapped a two-game losing streak as junior Marek Urbanski (4-4-3) made three saves to post his five shutout against the Hawks (8-6-1), the first place team in the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

Keller got NYU on the board in the 36th minute, collecting a loose ball near the goal mouth and tapping it home for his second goal of the season.  Right after emerging from intermission with a 1-0 lead, Freeman-Roche doubled the Violets' advantage by rising above the Hawk defense and heading home a well-placed cross by sophomore Anthony Tumbiolo for his first tally this season.

NYU owned a 15-10 edge on shots, including four during an aggressive start although those opportunities sailed wide.  Hunter held a 2-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Violets begin a two-game Midwest swing in St. Louis on Friday, Oct. 17, at University Athletic Association rival and #21-ranked Washington University.  Game time is 8:30 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).
