Heather Stout is in her second season as an assistant coach of the New York University women’s volleyball team. Stout’s primary roles include individual skill development and game-day responsibilities.
Last season, Stout helped lead the Violets to a 16-18 record and a seventh-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship.
Individually, several players produced notable performances during the 2015 season. Senior captain Nicole Frias graduated fifth on the team’s all-time list in sets played with 497 and earned UAA Honorable Mention accolades. Sophomore captain Brooke Tannahill made her way into the NYU record book, compiling the team’s fourth-highest single-season totals in digs (585) and digs per set (4.68).
Stout joined the NYU staff after a four-year career as a women’s volleyball player at NCAA Division II Glenville State College in Glenville, WV. She was a two-time Glenville State Athlete of the Week selection and a member of the Academic Honor Roll all four years.
Stout, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in early education and behavioral science from Glenville State in December 2014, added a master’s degree in sport management from Brooklyn College in 2016.
A native of Mt. Jackson, VA, Stout resides in Astoria, NY.
