Taylor Booth

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Taylor Booth has completed four seasons as an assistant coach of the New York University women’s soccer team. She is the program’s recruiting coordinator and is responsible for working with the Violet goalkeepers, as well as in all aspects of coaching.

In 2019, the squad posted its sixth-straight winning season. The Violets produced an 11-7 overall record, which included a 1-0 overtime victory against then-#10 University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Case Western Reserve University on October 5.

While at NYU, Booth has mentored a pair of First-Team All-UAA goalkeepers, Sophia Danielsen (2017) and Meghan Marhan (2018, 2019).

The 2018 season was highlighted by the program’s third trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament and first with Booth on staff. The Violets finished 10-6-3 overall and in second place (5-1-1) in the ultra-competitive UAA, marking NYU’s highest finish since 2002. Three NYU players were named All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches (USC), including senior Maddie Peña, who was named First Team after leading the squad in points (24) and setting a new program record with 10 assists. She was also honored as a Second Team All-American by d3soccer.com.

Under Booth’s tutelage, Marhan produced a 0.69 goals-against average (fourth-best in program history) and recorded six shutouts. She was also named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Month-Defense in October.

During the 2017 season, Booth helped lead NYU to its fourth consecutive winning season. The Violets compiled an overall record of 13-5-4 and a fourth-place 2-3-2 mark in the UAA. The squad earned a postseason appearance in the ECAC Division III Championship Tournament and made it to the finals, but fell on penalty kicks to Springfield College for the second consecutive season. Danielsen benefitted from Booth’s guidance, earning USC Second Team All-East and First Team All-UAA honors following a season where she allowed just 0.53 goals per game, which ranked third in program history.

In 2016, Booth helped NYU tally the third-highest single-season win total in program history, as the team posted a 13-3-6 record. The Violets earned a postseason bid to the ECAC Championship where they advanced to the finals from a 16-team field before falling to Springfield on penalty kicks in the championship match.

Captain and goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg had a stellar campaign under Booth’s tutelage in 2016, recording a 0.78 goals against average, 13 wins (tied for second in program history) and nine shutouts (third-best in program history).

Booth came to NYU after one season as an assistant coach of the women’s soccer team at NCAA Division I Siena College, where she helped lead the Saints to the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship and automatic NCAA Tournament bid. Booth was responsible for a multitude of tasks, including monitoring academic progress, providing direction in practice and game operations, scouting, player evaluation, and film breakdown.
Booth also accumulated coaching experience working with the FC Dutchmen in Guilderland, NY, in 2014-15, where she served as an assistant coach for the U17-18 team and as an assistant to the Director of Goalkeeping.

A 2015 Siena graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree on sociology and a certificate in community development, Booth was a four-year starter on the Saints’ soccer team. She made the MAAC All-Rookie Team, was selected First Team and Goalkeeper of the Year as a senior, and was a two-time MAAC All-Academic honoree.

Booth, who earned her master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from NYU in 2020, is a native of Epping, NH, and resides in Manhattan.
