Dominick Chiodi

Dominic Chiodi is in his third season as an assistant coach of the New York University baseball team. He serves mainly as the Violets’ bullpen coach.

The team finished the 2017-18 season with a program-record 28 wins (28-12) and a 6-10 record in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The team went undefeated over its spring trip (7-0) and posted winning records both at home (13-7) and away (8-5).

The pitching staff had an immensely successful season with Chiodi’s assistance, recording a season-ERA of 3.81 in 342.2 total innings. Additionally, he helped guide senior Cameron Serapilio-Frank to First Team All-UAA and D3baseball.com Third Team All-New York Region honors. 

In his first season at NYU, the Violets posted a program-record 23 wins (23-13) and a 4-8 mark in the UAA. The Violets won six of their last seven games and posted a 17-6 record at their home field, MCU Park in Coney Island.

There were many highlights to the 2016-17 season, culminating in multiple postseason accolades for some of the players. First baseman Colman Hendershot, shortstop Jonathon Iaione and centerfielder Jack Walter earned First Team All-UAA honors, with Iaione also being named UAA Position Player of the Year. In addition, Iaione was named First Team All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Metro, First Team All-New York Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Second Team All-New York Region by D3Baseball.com. Walter was named First Team All-ECAC Metro and Second Team All-New York Region by the ABCA, while Hendershot was recognized as Second Team All-New York Region by D3Baseball.com and Third Team All-New York Region from the ABCA.

Prior to joining Head Coach Doug Kimbler’s staff, Chiodi served as the Head Coach of NYU’s club team after one season as an assistant.

Chiodi was the Head Coach at King’s College in NYC from 2011-14. He also served one season as the Head Coach at Queensborough Community College during the 200-01 campaign.

A 1989 graduate of St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic administration, Chiodi also earned a master’s degree in physical education from Hofstra University in 1998.

The former Director of Athletics at both Kingsborough Community College (2001-05) and Globe Institute of Technology (2008-10), Chiodi is a Queens, NY, native and currently resides in Williston, NY.
