Men’s Golf in Second Place After Opening Day at Bowdoin Invitational

Chandra Shoots Five-Under as Violets Post 13-Over Through Two Rounds

The New York University men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday, September 26, at Brunswick Golf Course in Brunswick, ME. The Violets shot 298 (+10) in the opening round and improved by seven strokes to a 291 (+3) in round two, finishing the day at 589 (+13). NYU stands in second place out of 16 teams.

"Despite the tough conditions and playing 36 holes in one day, the team performed quite well," said Assistant Coach Daniel Moneymaker.

Tanmay Chandra led NYU with rounds of 69 and 70 for a five-under-par 139, leading by three strokes individually. He recorded nine birdies over the two rounds, including five in the opener.

Ryan Zhao followed with a 148 (+4) after shooting 78 and 70. His second round featured an eagle on the par-five third hole and a three-under-par 33 on the back nine. Qi (Steven) Liu carded rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 (+7), highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 16th hole in round one.

Jomyuth Luangtana-anan finished the day at 156 (+12) with rounds of 81 and 75, while Bo Dong shot 76 and 81 for a 157 (+13).

NYU trails Tufts by one stroke with 18 holes left.

"We're sitting in a good position for another win," continued Moneymaker.

The Violets will conclude the three-round tournament on Sunday, September 27.
