The New York University men's and women's tennis teams are set to compete at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships this weekend.
The women enter the tournament seeded sixth, while the men are seeded seventh in the eight-team competitions. Both Violet squads will take on Carnegie Mellon University in their opening-round match-ups.
Going into the championships, the women's team is currently on a four-match win streak, ending its regular season with a 9-3 record. In the history of the program, the Violets have only played the Tartans four times, coming out victorious once.
Victoria Wang led NYU with a 15-7 record during the regular season. Sophia Yang (13-4) and Visnja Gusavac (10-2) followed close behind.
Yang and Gusavac (8-4) and Emma Kast and Wang (8-3) came up big in doubles for the Violets.
On the men's side, NYU enters the championship having beaten Carnegie Mellon last year for the first time in program history. The Violets made a strong regular-season case, going undefeated at home and finishing 9-4.
Bryan Hui appeared in the most matches for the Violets, going 10-10. Niklas von Hellens (9-4) and Louis Frowein (8-2) also tallied impressive performances in their matches.
von Hellens and Hui excelled in doubles with an 8-3 record. Jeh-Lei Fan and Shido Ito (6-6) split their doubles decisions during the regular season.
The men will begin on Thursday, April 23, and the women will start on Friday, April 24.
Both teams will be playing at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.
