The 
NCAA Division III top-ranked New York University women's basketball team never trailed in defeating Emory University 83-52 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) game on Friday, January 17, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan. 
Caroline Peper scored a career-high 24 points, connecting on 9-of-14 shots from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. She also added a career-best six blocks to go with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.  
"I was not aware that I was approaching my career high," Peper admitted. "Every game it's just about us keeping momentum no matter who's scoring."  
The Violets (13-0, 2-0) scored the first six points of the game and led by as many as eight before taking a 17-12 lead after the first quarter.
NYU scored the first five points of the second quarter to take its first double-digit lead.
Emory (8-5, 0-2) pulled within seven points, 27-20, before Peper followed with a three-pointer.  
The Eagles crept within eight points before the Violets went on to a 39-24 halftime lead.
Peper had 15 points in the first half. 
The Violets scored the first six points of the third quarter.
The lead grew to as many as 26 points, 65-39, and the Violets went ahead 67-44 after the third quarter.
NYU's advantage increased to as many as 33 points, 83-50, in the fourth. 
"Peper has been working really hard in practice and was due for a big game," explained Head Coach 
Meg Barber. "When she leads with her defense her offense comes. She just had an outstanding complete game tonight."
Natalie Bruns finished with 15 points, 
Brooke Batchelor had 14 and 
Belle Pellecchia added 12. 
The Violets, who added to the nation's longest winning streak (44 games), are back in action on Sunday when they host the University of Rochester at the Paulson Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00pm.
