The New York University women's tennis team defeated The University of Rochester 5-0 on Sunday, April 28, the final day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship.
The Violets won doubles matchups #1-3.
Isabella Hartman and
Dakota Fordham triumphed 8-2 in their #1 match while
Jimena Menendez and
Aditi Narayan bested their opponents 8-2 at their #2 bout.
Tess Heber and
Hannah Chang emerged victorious at their #3 matchup with a 8-4 score.
In the singles matchups,
Kendall Kamerschen and Hartman both recorded victories for the Violets. Hartman won 6-1, 6-1 at #3 and Kamerschen defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 in the #6 matchup. These two victories gave NYU the win against Rochester and seventh place in the UAA Championship.
"Today we played a team that we have played before in the season and we did pretty well beforehand. So definitely happy that we could repeat that success today," said Assistant Head Coach
Sophia Strickland.
After today's game, the Violets will wait to see if they have been selected to continue play as a team at the NCAA Division III Championships which will commence on Monday, May 20, in St. Louis, MO.
