The New York University women's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 9-0 on Sunday, April 14, in Rochester, NY.
The Violets began the day with a trio of triumphs in the doubles matches as
Isabella Hartman and
Jimena Menendez won their #1 doubles bout 8-3.
Also emerging victorious were
Aditi Narayan and
Glenda Boeker at #2 by a score of 8-1, while
Margaret Piatos and
Kendall Kamerschen earned an 8-5 triumph in the #3 match.
Menendez bested her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at #1 singles and Hartman joined her with a 6-1, 6-2 victory of her own in the #2 singles matchup.
Narayan came out on top in a battle at third singles 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-1, while Kamerschen double bageled her opponent in the #4 match (6-0, 6-0).
"She's been coming to the net and volleying really well and finishing points really well. To get her first singles match wins, two of them this weekend, is pretty impressive as well," said Assistant Coach
Sophia Strickland of Kamerschen. "She definitely was very solid to clinch both matches."
Piatos triumphed in her #5 singles bout 6-1, 6-1 while Boeker vanquished her opponent 6-0, 6-3 in the #6 singles match.
The Violets will return to the courts on Saturday, April 20, at 5:00pm at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx as they celebrate Senior Day.
